We have discontinued our referral program
We have decided to discontinue our referral program. We created this program as an incentive for people to share twiends with their friends and followers.
We found that this was hugely successful, but in some ways it has become too successful. We've noticed that some users have started to spam their referral links on twitter.
We never want to encourage spammy behaviour, so we have decided to replace our referral program with daily visit seeds.
Why are you stopping it?
Spamming tweets over and over on twitter, or creating serial accounts on twitter is strictly prohibited in their policy and ours. It's also against policy to promote sites that "get more twitter followers".
At twiends we provide introductions to people, and we make no claim to get followers or sell followers. We help you grow your social network and we help you find interesting tweeps to follow.
We can promote you effectively using our vast community of members, but we can't guarantee or force people to follow you.
Please ensure you are not making such claims yourself, as it may lead to your suspension.
What are daily visit seeds?
Rather than giving you seeds whenever you refer someone, we will give you 10 seeds simply for visiting us each day. VIP's get 25.
Will I get more or less free seeds now?
We've calculated that the vast majority of users will get many more seeds from daily visits than from referrals.
It's usually hard for users to refer more than a handful of friends, and so this is a great way to give more rewards to more people every day.
On average we are currently giving out seven times more seeds for daily visits than for referrals!
How do I get daily visit seeds?
All you need to do is verify your email address once and log into twiends each day to have a look around. We automatically check if it's the first time you are visiting that day and allocate
your seeds. We reset each day at midnight UTC.
What referral tweets were considered spammy?
If you tweet the same link many times then it's generally considered spammy. When tweeting from twiends we used to limit the number of times you could tweet your referral link.
Unfortunately some users would take their links and tweet them many times directly on twitter. Some users were also creating serial accounts to distribute their links.
Are you punishing the many because of the few?
No! We've put careful thought into this and have structured the daily visit program to be more beneficial than the referral program.
We have to be honest with ourselves that there is just no way we can control how people tweet referral links, so we can't ensure policy is conformed to.
What is against tweeting policy?
It's against policy to make claims to "get more twitter followers", or "get free followers". We don't do this on twiends, and we don't do it in the tweet examples we provide.
Any twitter user that does this may have their account suspended by twitter.
But people do follow me from twiends?
Yes, we're a big community, with thousands of members joining each day. We promote you and provide introductions for you. Many people will choose to follow you on twiends, which
will help you to grow your audience on twitter.
